Feng Shui, (pronounced fung shway and translates to “wind and water”) is the ancient Chinese art that creates balance within your environment and results in improving every aspect of your life and helps you feel better.

According to Chinese beliefs, once balance is created in the environment, prosperity, happiness and harmony will follow. Feng Shui believes that our life and destiny are closely interwoven with the universe and nature.

Black Sect Feng Shui is derived, in part, from Tibetan Tantric Buddhism, as taught by Professor Lin Yun of Berkeley, California. He is recognized as one of the foremost authorities in the world on Black Sect Feng Shui. He brought his teachings from Taiwan to the United States in 1986.

Patty trained with James Jay, teacher and director of China Studies, who was trained by Professor Lin Yun.

Western Feng Shui, as it is sometimes called, is multi-disciplined and uses psychology, interior design, color therapy, yin/yang theory, 5 element theories, the I Ching, common sense and intuition.

Have you ever walked into a business or a home and thought, “this feels good?”  You are experiencing the positive benefits of Feng Shui.  By working or living in a harmonious environment, positive energy or “chi” flows through your whole being. You feel happy, sleep better, your relationships improve and every aspect of your daily experience is harmonious.

Whether one calls it hocus-pocus, the will to believe, or the power of positive thinking, the function of rituals is to increase our receptivity so we can reap the maximum benefits from the process.

The Feng Shui taught by Lin Yun addresses the way we deal with our immediate environment and how it shapes our lives.

Feng Shui is neither superstitious voodoo magic nor a fad.  The Chinese have known for many years that our physical surroundings affect every aspect of our inner and outer lives.

Example of Feng Shui:
• Is the location of your bed preventing you from having restful sleep?
• Does working in your dark, clutter-filled office make you feel nervous or unable to focus?
• Does your entrance door open onto a wall?  This could prevent you from moving forward or
blocking your growth.
• Do you sit with your back to a door and feel “guarded” while working?  This results in a lack
of effectiveness and productivity for you and your career.

There are some simple cures that are used in Feng Shui to change our destiny for the better.

Our Feng Shui consultants combine both ancient Eastern and modern Western thought, which results in a practical and cost effective way to improve your life.

We also use the following fundamental principles of Feng Shui:

Yin/Yang
Yin/Yang represents balance and continual change.  Yin and yang cannot survive without one another. Yin is the passive side of nature, female, negative, night and intuitive. Yang is the active side of nature, positive, day and logical. Nothing is 100% male or female. This concept is important in Feng Shui because it is all about creating balance and harmony.

The Five Elements Theory
The five elements include fire, water, metal, earth and wood. The energy of each of the five elements are as follows:
• Wood - The energy of expansion and growth.
• Fire - The energy of Fame.
• Earth - The energy of knowledge, health and marriage.
• Metal - The energy of communication and creativity.
• Water - The energy of people and prosperity into your life.

Our consultants assess the space associated with your home and business and make suggestions to improve the flow of energy using The Five Elements.

The Bagua
The Bagua (pronounced bah-gwah) is an energetic map used to assess a space using the Feng Shui principles. The Bagua is an octagon shape that is superimposed on a home, a plot of land, an office, a room or even furniture to diagnose environmental issues. It is used to cure problems and to enhance the flow of energy. The nine parts of the Bagua are as follows:
• Family
• Wealth
• Health
• Benefactors
• Children/Creativity
• Knowledge
• Fame
• Career
• Marriage
